True North Therapy: Racheal McDaniel Thompson, Occupational Therapist

OT is a health profession focusing on function! We treat injured, ill, or disabled clients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. We help these clients develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. Sometimes this looks like helping a grandmother regain her strength, balance, and executive functioning after a stroke to be able to play with her grandchildren. It may look like helping a soldier identify their strengths, develop coping mechanisms, and explore a new career options following a combat related injury. Occasionally, it will look like helping a teen with autism practice the regulation skills needed to be more independent in the community setting. OT’s take the person, environment, and unique functions of each individual to help create balance and facilitate function!
